Emergency Care

Emergency Room Services

In the case of an emergency, please call your local emergency dispatching service – 911. Emergency assistance is not available through this web site.

Five Rivers Medical Center has a 6 bed Emergency Department. We are a Level IV Trauma Center that provides resuscitation and stabilization of the severely injured adult or pediatric patient prior to transferring the patient to a higher Level trauma facility.

We have an Emergency Department physician available 24 hours a day and an orthopedic surgeon on call the majority of days.

Telemedicine consultation with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital is available for strokes, burns, pediatrics, and hand injuries. Trauma patients are transferred through the Arkansas Trauma Call Center to the closest most appropriate trauma center.

Arkansas SAVES (Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support), uses a high-speed video communications system to help provide immediate, life-saving treatments to stroke patients 24 hours a day.

We also have a program in place with St. Bernards Medical Center and NEA Baptist Hospital to get heart attack patients to the cardiac cath lab very quickly.

Patients who feel they have an emergency should seek help in the Emergency Department, especially patients with traumatic injuries, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke like symptoms should seek help immediately.
